**INT. FIANCE'S HOUSE - EVENING**

SOUND of polite chatter, clinking glasses

MARK (30s), nervous but trying to be charming, sits on a plush sofa next to ANNA (30s), his fiancée. Across from them sits LIAM (30s), Mark's friend, and CHLOE (30s), Anna's sister.  Chloe is strikingly beautiful, with a quick wit and a mischievous glint in her eye.

ANNA
(Smiling)
…and then, the cat decided to use the expensive vase as a scratching post!  It was chaos.

Everyone laughs. Liam subtly glances at Chloe, who catches his eye and raises an eyebrow playfully.

MARK
(Slightly stiffly)
Oh, dear.  Cats.  Always a source of…unpredictability.

CHLOE
(Teasingly)
Tell me about it.  I once had a cat that trained my goldfish to play fetch.

Liam chuckles, a genuine laugh this time.  Mark forces a smile, feeling a pang of something he can't quite name.

LIAM
That's…amazing.  I've never heard of anything like it.

ANNA
(To Mark)
Liam's always been fascinated by animals.  He volunteers at the wildlife sanctuary.

Mark nods, his attention momentarily distracted by Chloe's graceful movements as she refills her wine glass.

**INT. MARK'S APARTMENT - NIGHT**

Mark sits alone, staring at a photograph of Anna and Chloe together.  He's visibly troubled.

MARK
(To himself)
It's ridiculous.  She's Anna's sister.  It's completely inappropriate.

He sighs, running a hand through his hair.

MARK (CONT'D)
But…that spark.  That connection…it was undeniable.

He picks up his phone, hesitates, then dials a number.

[SCENE CONTINUES - several scenes later]

**INT. COFFEE SHOP - DAY**

Mark and Chloe sit opposite each other, both looking slightly awkward.

CHLOE
(Quietly)
I…I didn't expect you to call.

MARK
(Hesitantly)
I…I had to.  I know it's complicated, but I couldn't ignore it any longer.  I…I've had feelings for you since that night at Anna's.

Chloe looks down, then back up at Mark, her expression unreadable.

CHLOE
And Anna?

MARK
(Sighs)
I love Anna.  But…I think I'm in love with you too.  It's…confusing.  And wrong.  I know.

Chloe reaches across the table and takes his hand.

CHLOE
It's complicated, yes.  But…I felt it too, Mark.  That night.  And every time I've seen you since.

They sit in silence for a moment, holding hands.  The weight of their secret hangs heavy in the air.

**INT. ANNA'S APARTMENT - NIGHT**

Mark sits opposite Anna, his face pale.  He's just confessed his feelings for Chloe.

ANNA
(Tears in her eyes)
I…I don't understand.  How could you?

MARK
(Desperately)
I'm so sorry, Anna.  I never meant to hurt you.  But I couldn't keep it a secret any longer.

Anna stands abruptly, her voice trembling.

ANNA
I need some time.  Alone.

Mark watches her go, the weight of his actions crushing him.  The future, once clear, is now shrouded in uncertainty.
