Game Overview: Monday Morning Mayhem is a fast-paced, lighthearted card game set in the chaotic world of a shared office cubicle. Players compete to complete their daily tasks before the end of the workday, battling distractions, unexpected events, and the ever-present looming threat of Hoops' interruptions. The game combines strategic task management with elements of luck and chance, creating a fun and engaging experience for players of all skill levels.
Game Components:
- A game board depicting a cubicle with various task spaces.
- A deck of "Task" cards, each detailing a task with a point value and potential challenges.
- A deck of "Distraction" cards, representing unexpected events that can hinder progress.
- A deck of "Hoops" cards, depicting Hoops' various interruptions and their effects.
- Player pawns representing each player.
- A "Day's End" card.
- Point tokens.
Game Setup:
- Place the game board in the center of the playing area.
- Shuffle the Task, Distraction, and Hoops cards and place them face down in their designated areas on the board.
- Each player chooses a player pawn and places it on the starting space of the board.
- Each player draws three Task cards to start.
Gameplay:
-
On a player's turn, they perform the following actions in order:
- Draw a card: Draw one card from either the Task, Distraction, or Hoops deck. The choice is up to the player.
- Complete a task (optional): If the player has a Task card they wish to complete, they may discard it and move their pawn the number of spaces indicated on the card. If the task has a challenge, the player must resolve it according to the card's instructions (this might involve drawing another card or losing a turn).
- Resolve Distraction/Hoops card (if drawn): If the player drew a Distraction or Hoops card, they must resolve the effect as indicated on the card. This may involve losing points, moving backward, or skipping a turn.
- Draw new Task cards (optional): The player may discard up to three Task cards from their hand and draw three new ones.
-
The game continues until a player reaches the "Day's End" space on the board. That player immediately draws the "Day's End" card to determine the final scoring.
Scoring:
The player who reaches the "Day's End" space first adds up the point values of all the completed Task cards. The player with the highest point total wins the game. The "Day's End" card may include bonus points or penalties based on the number of completed tasks or the effects of Distraction/Hoops cards.
Winning the Game:
The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Card Examples:
- Task Card: "Finish Project X (5 points). Challenge: Draw a Distraction card."
- Distraction Card: "Coffee machine breaks! Lose your next turn."
- Hoops Card: "Hoops needs help finding his stapler! Move back 2 spaces."
