Glanard Biddle is a 61-year-old man from Merritt Island, Florida, with blue eyes and a fringe of gray hair on the back of an otherwise bald scalp. His facial hair, however, is his most distinctive physical feature. It's the same style as what Abraham Lincoln had, with a beard but no mustache, but gray rather than black. He chose this style in tribute to his father and paternal grandfather, who had the same style of facial hair. Glanard, however, has a physique that is the complete opposite of Abraham Lincoln's - a large paunchy torso on short stubby legs. Glanard's pants are usually neutral colors, but his shirts are usually pink, pastel yellow, or peach, except when the school where he teaches has spirit week, in which case he wears shirts the color of fine sapphires, because that's one of the school colors. He is a middle school business skills teacher, having started the program himself. He is often the subject of mockery from his students, but he takes it all in stride. He radiates calmness and composure even when he has to discipline someone. In addition, if it's one of the rare instances where things do get out of hand, he can use his deep booming voice to defuse the situation. He uses the flipped classroom model, and he is an early adopter of technology and uses it extensively in both his personal and professional life. He believes in the potential of every student. His hobbies are technology and chess. He was married to Lorna, a librarian, for thirty years before she passed away about five years ago. They had one child, Meredith, who is now 30 years old, works as a software developer, and lives in Cocoa with her husband and daughter. He lives alone (except for Zebra, his striped long-tailed grass lizard) in a two-bedroom, 1.5-bathroom house. He sleeps in a full-size bed with a memory foam mattress, which he refuses to give up because for him, it's a tangible connection to Lorna. The full bathroom contains a tub/shower combo, and he prefers showers over baths. He will not eliminate the tub, however, for the sake of his granddaughter.
